The accident occurred close to the intersection of NE 46^th St. and NE 78^th Avenue near Ankeny. According to a member of the Polk County sheriff’s office, the 46-year-old male driver of the dump truck was charged with failure to yield right-of-way.

The Gettysburg Times reports a crash involving three vehicles on Monday afternoon, May 30 in Cumberland Township, Pennsylvania in which a 74-year-old man was killed. Police said the man was driving a Hyundai G 350L and waiting to turn left into his home at the Lincoln Estates when he was struck from behind by an eight-wheel Peterbilt dump truck. The initial accident pushed the Hyundai into eastbound Route 30, where it came into contact with a 2008 Ford F-250 pickup truck. The 45-year-old driver of the pickup and a 66-year-old passenger were injured and treated at Gettysburg Hospital. The truck came to a rest after striking the bricks at the entrance of the Lincoln Estates. The Hyundai also came to a stop at the entrance. The driver of the Hyundai was declared dead at the scene of the accident.

KPLCTV.com reports an accident involving an 18-wheeler on Thursday, May 26 in Moss Bluff, Louisiana shortly around 9:45am. According to Louisiana State Police, the driver of a northbound 18-wheeler tried to make a u-turn onto southbound Highway 171 at Phils Lane when a car proceeding south struck the truck. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the 18-wheeler was charged with failure to yield the right of way.

ABC15 reports a 4-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks on Wednesday, May 25 in Wickenburg, Arizona around 5:30pm. A 34-year-old woman died as a result of the crash, which occurred on State Route 74, milepost 2.1, close to US 60. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a semi-truck rear-ended a pickup truck, pushing the pickup into a passenger car. The passenger car was forced into oncoming traffic and was struck by a second semi-truck, killing one.

STLToday.com reports a fatality involving a dump truck that occurred on Wednesday, April 13 at 6:18am in St. Charles County, Missouri. According to Missouri Highway Patrol, the driver of a dump truck traveling on Highway Z North entered the southbound portion of the highway after poorly negotiating a curve in the road. The 2006 Peterbilt dump truck struck a southbound Plymouth Sundance, killing a 67 year-old male passenger from St. Charles. The driver of the Sundance and two other passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries. The highway was shut down at Stealey Road for over four hours.

KLFY reports a cement truck accident on Thursday, April 14 in Broussard, Louisiana at 10:30am. According to the Broussard Police Department, a white Dodge pickup truck was traveling on US 90 East and slowed down to turn into a business driveway. A cemment truck following behind did not break in time and overturned on top of the pickup, trapping its occupants. A 24 year-old passenger in the pickup was declared dead at the scene of the accident. The 38 year-old pickup truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital for moderate injuries. The cement truck driver will be charged with careless operation of a motor vehicle, and other charges are pending.

PennLive.com reports an 18-wheeler accident on Monday, April 18 at 2:30am in Northern York County, Manchester Township, Pennsylvania. According to police, an officer involved in a box truck accident on Interstate 83 was rear-ended by the driver of an 18-wheeler who did not see the accident. The police cruiser ended up under the box truck, trapping the officer and a DUI suspect/passenger inside. Both sustained serious injuries and were transported to York Hospital for treatment.

The Courier Post reports a fatality involving a box truck and a dump truck on Monday, April 18 in Pennsauken, New Jersey at 9:35am. Police say that the driver of a Buick LeSabre vehicle was stopped at a light at Remington Avenue on Route 73 when he was forcefully rear-ended by the driver of a box truck. The LeSabre was pushed underneath a dump truck stopped in front of it. After the dump truck was hit, it struck two additional vehicles in the vicinity of the stop light. The driver of the Buick LeSabre, a 55 year-old man from Marlton, was killed.

FOX17Online.com says a town fire truck caused minor injuries to a teenage driver and her infant passenger on Christmas Eve (Friday, December 24) in Plainfield Township, Michigan. The truck crash happened as the Plainfield Township Fire Department vehicle was driving north on Northland Drive with its lights and sirens on, heading for a fire. The truck hit the eastbound car in the 7 Mile Road NE intersection. Alcohol was not believed to have been a factor.

The Beacon News reports that the driver of a semi tractor accidentally killed a pedestrian while backing up toward a semi trailer on Christmas morning. This truck accident happened Saturday, December 25, at 10:24am, in the truck parking lot of Aldi Inc. headquarters (1200 N. Kirk Road, Batavia, Illinois). The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.

This unusual truck wreck happened on Sunday, December 26, at mile marker 357, west of Limon, Colorado.  A police officer in a cruiser had used lights and a siren for several minutes in an effort to flag down the truck until the crash, after which the semi rolled into the median and stopped, lying across westbound lanes. Police said alcohol was involved.

WXVT.com reports that a tractor-trailer hit and killed a woman early Monday morning, December 27, in Shreveport, Louisiana. It was still dark, and she was trying to flag traffic around her car, which she’d crashed into the side of the I-220 bridge.  After the truck accident, the semi flipped and spilled plywood all over the bridge’s westbound lanes.

CBSNewYork.com reports that the driver of a landscaping company dump truck lost control and crashed head-on into a Mercedes, killing an elderly man and severely injuring his wife. Police are still searching for the other truck driver, who fled. This fatal truck accident happened on Monday, November 29, on Jericho Turnpike in Syosset, New York.

MSNBC.com reports that a Greyhound bus driver was severely injured and at least 18 of his 21 passengers were hurt when the New York-bound bus rear-ended a logging truck on I-95 near St. George, South Carolina. Rescuers took several hours to free the bus driver, who was pinned by fallen logs. The logging truck driver was not hurt, and the accident is still being investigated. This truck accident happened on Tuesday, November 30, around 6 p.m.

City News Service reports that a motorist died in a crash involving a catering truck that was speeding on the eastbound I-10 in California’s San Gorgonio Pass near Indio on the evening of Wednesday, December 1. According to a CHP dispatcher, the fatal truck wreck took place near Haugen Lamen Way. It was the second of two in the pass that day. Earlier that afternoon, a fatal big-rig accident on the westbound I-10, about three miles from the later crash, snarled traffic until almost 10 p.m.

TheMonitor.com reports that two truck drivers were killed in a fiery head-on crash on Highway 16 south of Hebbronville, Texas. Both tractor-trailers were carrying petroleum products and caught fire when they collided. Police said it was unclear why the big rigs crashed. This fatal truck accident happened around 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 2. Part of the highway remained closed until the next morning as clean-up crews handled the spill.

The truck driver survived but was in critical condition.

9News.com reports that a furniture delivery truck killed one woman and injured another when it backed over them on Saturday, October 16, in Englewood, Colorado. The two women were talking, standing by a mailbox in the 7100 block of East Briarwood Drive, when the truck started backing up. Apparently the women didn’t hear the truck, and the driver didn’t hear bystanders shouting at him. The surviving woman sustained minor injuries.

Newson6.com reports that a man died this week near Roland, Oklahoma, when a dump truck backed over him. The fatal truck accident occurred on Saturday morning, October 16, in a construction zone on the I-40 West. The victim was declared dead at the scene.

ABC 6 On Your Side reports that a semi slammed into a Ford Focus on U.S. 23 in Pickaway County, Ohio, killing a passenger in the Ford and injuring its driver. The Ford was entering a Wal-Mart parking lot when the truck crash happened. The Ohio Department of Transportation is working with Pickaway County Sheriffs officials to investigate the truck accident.

Tracy Press reports that a semi-truck slammed into a minivan on Grant Line Road in Tracy, California, injuring three people including a child who was trapped inside the van following the truck crash. Tracy Police pointed out that when a traffic light fails the intersection becomes a four-way stop. They are continuing their investigation of the truck accident at this time.

TheINDYChannel.com reports that a tractor-trailer rear-ended a passenger vehicle on State Road 37 near Bloomington, Indiana, killing the car’s 31-year-old driver. The passenger vehicle was slowing to pull into a gas station when the big rig crashed into it from behind. The News Star.com reports that a semi-tractor struck a John Deere tractor on Jackson Street in Monroe, Louisiana when the semi attempted to pass the tractor in a no-passing zone. The driver of the John Deere was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Monroe Police cited the driver of the semi-tractor truck for improper passing.

WHMI.com reports that a tractor-trailer lost control on Michigan’s I-96, jackknifed, struck a wall, and sent large chunks of concrete flying into oncoming traffic. The van’s passengers were members of an extended family including children, returning from a kite flying convention in Georgia.

Gainesville.com reports that two Fort Myers, Florida residents were seriously injured when their van was struck in the rear by a semitrailer on I-75 Tuesday morning, causing it to spin, overturn and slide into a concrete barrier. Florida Highway Patrol reports that charges against the driver of the semitrailer truck are pending in this crash that left the van’s 84-year-old passenger in serious condition and its 75-year-old driver in critical condition.

KansasCity.com reports that a Kansas Department of Transportation worker was injured on the job on December 29th on I-35 near Southwest Boulevard in Kansas City, Kansas when a semi tractor-trailer struck his arm as he directed traffic, sending him to a local hospital where he was treated and released. The semi did not stop following the incident and Kansas Highway Patrolmen are asking any witnesses to the incident to come forward with information.

Chron.com | AP Texas News reports that a Dallas, Texas woman was injured on I-20 near Shreveport, Louisiana when a tractor-trailer loaded with 10 tons of dog food struck her Mercedes and pushed it into a second tractor trailer. The woman was taken to the hospital with what was described by Shreveport police in their accident report as “a knot on her head.”

Wisconsin’s Menomonee Falls NOW reports that a 19-year-old woman was in critical condition after the vehicle she was driving was rear-ended by a semi tractor-trailer on Highway 45 in Menomonee Falls. According to Menomonee Falls Police, the young victim’s vehicle was pushed 500 feet down the highway by the semi before coming to a stop at the roadside. She was taken by Flight for Life to an area hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Deseret News reports that a semitrailer hauling snow-grooming equipment triggered a chain-reaction accident on I-15 near the I-215 interchange in North Salt Lake, Utah that involved several vehicles and sent two victims to the hospital. A piece of snow-grooming equipment carried by the big rig extended beyond its trailer and when the truck attempted to merge, the protruding equipment clipped a passenger vehicle, setting off the chain-reaction crash, according to Utah Highway Patrol.
