WLWT.com reports a box truck accident that occurred on Monday, October 3 around 1:35pm in Vevay, Indiana. The driver of a box truck said he was distracted by an insect when he struck a parked police cruiser on Highway 56 at Maple Street. Two officers performing a routine traffic stop were hit by the box truck. One officer was thrown approximately 20 feet. He was airlifted to University Hospital in Cincinnati. The other officer was treated for minor injuries at King’s Daughters Hospital in Madison, Indiana. Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office will assist with the investigation.

The Denver Channel reports a waste truck accident that occurred on Monday, October 3 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. According to police, a truck operated by EDS Waste Solutions had an unsecured latch that leaked waste onto Interstates 70 & 76 for half of a mile. The slick hazard resulted in two motorcycle accidents and numerous car accidents on I-70 at Ward Road. The State Patrol also said a crash on I-76 was the result of the waste as well. Seven people were taken to the hospital after the accidents. The driver of the waste truck received two citations for spilling a load and causing injury. He has previously pled guilty to driving an overweight load.

The Daily News reports a semi truck accident that took place on Friday, September 30 at 7:49am in Le Roy, New York. According to representatives from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department, the driver of a 2008 Mazda slowed on Route 19 North to turn left onto Griswold when the driver of a 2005 Mack tractor trailer rear-ended the Mazda. The semi truck then hit a 2006 Impala traveling on Route 19 South. The rig overturned, caught fire and came to a rest in a bystander’s front lawn. The Impala driver was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. A driver & passenger inside the Mazda were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the semi truck also sustained internal injuries as a result of the crash.

The Courier Press reports a tractor trailer accident that injured three people on Thursday, September 29 at 5:40pm in Union County, Kentucky. According to representatives of the Kentucky State Police, the driver of a tractor-trailer ran a red light at the intersection of U.S. 60 and a bypass. The big rig struck a 2007 Chevy Impala traveling on U.S. 60 West. Two occupants of the Impala were transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. A third occupant of the Impala was listed in fair condition at Deaconess Hospital.

WFIN.com reports a semi truck accident that occurred on Thursday, August 18 around 4:38pm in Hancock County, Ohio. A 51 year-old female driver from Findlay was rear-ended by a 48 year-old male driver of a semi-truck as the woman tried to turn on State Route 15 from US 68 North. Upon impact, the car crossed onto the entrance ramp of State Route 15 while the semi truck went into a ditch. The woman was taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital for injuries and the semi-truck driver received a citation for assured clear distance.

The Times Reporter reports a semi-truck accident that occurred on Thursday afternoon, August 18 near Tappan Lake, Ohio. Representatives of the Ohio Highway Patrol stated that a Jeep Cherokee on State Route 250 West tried to pass a tractor trailer in a marked passing zone when the tractor trailer attempted to pass a pickup truck. The tractor trailer hit the Cherokee, which overturned on the right side of State Route 250. The pickup truck was also struck by the tractor trailer. Two occupants of the Jeep Cherokee were taken to Aultman Hospital to receive treatment for injuries. The 51 year-old male driver of the semi truck, employed by PGD Inc., received a citation for driving left of center.

The Post Independent reports a fatality involving a semi truck on Tuesday, August 16 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. According to the Colorado State Patrol, a semi truck driver transporting logs ran a red light on Highway 82 South around 1:17pm. The semi truck hit a Jeep turning left from County Road 154, killing a 24 year-old woman. The driver of the semi truck was charged with careless driving causing a death.

KASA.com reports a semi truck accident that occurred on Friday, August 19 around noon in Gallup, New Mexico. Representatives of the State Police said a gasoline tanker hit a pickup truck on Interstate 40 and then struck the building of a business called Sun Loans, killing 1 employee and injuring 2. Two women were transported via helicopter to Albuquerque Hospital with critical injuries. After the accident, the truck was lodged inside of the building.

LeavenworthTimes.com reports that a garbage truck ran over and killed a man who’d just stepped out of its cab on Wednesday, December 29.  The truck was backing into the driveway of a residence to get closer to the garbage cans. The man, 24, had just stepped out to walk along the passenger side toward the rear of the truck. Police believe he slipped and fell under the wheels of the truck, which is owned by Honey Creek Disposal of Tonganoxie. This fatal truck accident happened at 26141 Ninth St.
in southwest Leavenworth, Texas.

9News.com reports that a trailer came loose from its tractor and caused a multi-vehicle fatality truck wreck near Pueblo, Colorado, on Wednesday, December 29.  The big rig was heading south on I-25 when its dual-axle flatbed trailer came off. The rogue trailer crossed the median and hit a northbound semi truck carrying USPS mail cargo.  The mail truck came to rest in the median, and its driver was declared dead at the scene. Trailer debris also hit two other vehicles on the highway and sparked a grass fire by the roadside.

UticaOD.com reports that a tractor-trailer hit a stationary garbage truck, causing it to hit and kill a sanitation worker standing beside it. This fatal truck accident happened around 9:30am on Thursday, December 30, on southbound Route 28 in Herkimer County, New York. The deceased, age 61, worked for Mohawk, NY-based Spohn’s Disposal.

LasVegasSun.com reports two people were hospitalized Thursday, December 30, after a four-vehicle crash. The paving truck that caused the accident left the scene immediately.  This truck wreck happened just after 3pm in the northbound lanes of I-15, just south of the Sahara Avenue interchange in Las Vegas, Nevada.

WRCBTV.com reports that junk fell off a truck, smashed through a car windshield, and hit a car passenger in the head on Friday, December 31. This truck accident happened on Georgia Route 400 in Atlanta, Georgia, where police closed northbound traffic for several hours. The falling matter, possibly tools or clamps, damaged several other cars as well. The passenger who was struck was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Examiner.com reports that a tractor-trailer and a tanker truck collided early Monday, January 3.  One truck rear-ended the other in Penn Township, Pennsylvania, but reports did not specify which was in front. One of the drivers was airlifted to an area hospital, and a trailer damaged in the accident spilled glue all over the road. This sticky truck wreck happened near mile marker 35, about two miles south of the Newville exit and six miles north of the King Street exit at Shippensburg.

FOX17Online.com says a town fire truck caused minor injuries to a teenage driver and her infant passenger on Christmas Eve (Friday, December 24) in Plainfield Township, Michigan. The truck crash happened as the Plainfield Township Fire Department vehicle was driving north on Northland Drive with its lights and sirens on, heading for a fire. The truck hit the eastbound car in the 7 Mile Road NE intersection. Alcohol was not believed to have been a factor.

The Beacon News reports that the driver of a semi tractor accidentally killed a pedestrian while backing up toward a semi trailer on Christmas morning. This truck accident happened Saturday, December 25, at 10:24am, in the truck parking lot of Aldi Inc. headquarters (1200 N. Kirk Road, Batavia, Illinois). The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.

GrandForksHerald.com reports that a semi pulling a double-van trailer hit a private van at 10am Wednesday morning, December 22, killing two children and injuring the driver and another child. This fatal truck wreck happened on Highway 2 at Grand Forks County 5, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. A girl, 8, and a boy, 5, died in the accident, but another boy, 3, and his father, who’d been at the wheel, survived after a hospital visit. The truck driver was also hospitalized briefly.

TheDailyReview.com reports that a water tanker truck hit a pickup on Saturday, December 25, sending four people to a local hospital. The truck accident happened on a dangerously curvy stretch of U.S. Route 220 in Cherry Township, Pennsylvania. Both vehicles were severely damaged, and people had to be cut out of the pickup truck with power tools. The truck driver was also hospitalized. No charges were filed.

9News.com reports a truck driver hit a car head-on after driving west in eastbound lanes with his lights off. A 71-year-old man who’d been in the car was airlifted to a hospital but later died of his injuries. A woman, 77, and a girl, 9, were hospitalized with minor injuries. This unusual truck wreck happened on Sunday, December 26, at mile marker 357, west of Limon, Colorado.  A police officer in a cruiser had used lights and a siren for several minutes in an effort to flag down the truck until the crash, after which the semi rolled into the median and stopped, lying across westbound lanes. Police said alcohol was involved.

WXVT.com reports that a tractor-trailer hit and killed a woman early Monday morning, December 27, in Shreveport, Louisiana. It was still dark, and she was trying to flag traffic around her car, which she’d crashed into the side of the I-220 bridge.  After the truck accident, the semi flipped and spilled plywood all over the bridge’s westbound lanes.

KansasCity.com reports that a dump truck killed a married couple Thursday, October 14, after its front tire blew out and the driver lost control. The truck crossed the divider and hit the couple’s SUV head-on. This double fatality truck wreck happened on LA 3127 North, about 1.8 miles north of LA 3142, just west of Hahnville, Louisiana. The truck driver survived but was in critical condition.

PatriotLedger.com reports that a semi truck jackknifed and hit two cars Thursday, October 14, injuring the 81-year-old woman driving one the cars. The truck accident happened around 5pm on southbound Route 3, north of Samoset Street, in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

9News.com reports that a furniture delivery truck killed one woman and injured another when it backed over them on Saturday, October 16, in Englewood, Colorado. The two women were talking, standing by a mailbox in the 7100 block of East Briarwood Drive, when the truck started backing up. Apparently the women didn’t hear the truck, and the driver didn’t hear bystanders shouting at him. The surviving woman sustained minor injuries.

Newson6.com reports that a man died this week near Roland, Oklahoma, when a dump truck backed over him. The fatal truck accident occurred on Saturday morning, October 16, in a construction zone on the I-40 West. The victim was declared dead at the scene.

HometownAnnapolis.com reports that a Penske moving truck slammed into a box truck stopped by the side of the road on Monday, September 27, killing one man and seriously injuring three others.  The men had pulled over on westbound Route 50 east of the Cape St. Claire Road overpass (just west of Annapolis, Maryland) to fix a windshield wiper blade, just before 1pm.  The deceased died en route to the hospital from the scene of the truck wreck.

KGW.com reports that a big rig pulling two trailers killed a woman and seriously injured her husband when it crashed into their pickup truck around 7pm on Tuesday, September 28. The semi was passing the pickup in a no-passing zone on Highway 20, about 22 miles east of Burns, Oregon.  Not realizing the other truck was passing, the pickup driver tried to turn left, striking the larger truck. An Oregon State Policeman described the truck accident: “Both vehicles traveled off the south side of Highway 20 where they struck an abandoned motel, several trees, and an unoccupied pickup parked at a next-door residence.”

WBOC.com reports that a man died when a tractor-trailer T-boned the minivan in which he was traveling on Thursday night, September 30. The truck wreck happened at around 7:20pm, as the big rig pulled out onto Route 13 and Camp Road near Westover, Maryland. Two other adults and a child were injured. Authorities say alcohol may have played a role in the fatality accident, and weather may have also been a factor.

StarTribune.com reports that a semi truck slammed into another vehicle and killed two of its occupants on Sunday night, October 3. The vehicle in front was slowing down because a third vehicle was on fire by the side of the road on Interstate 94 south of St. Cloud, near the Clearwater exit. Authorities said a total of five vehicles were involved in the truck accident.

KKTV.com reports that a big rig and a Mazda sedan collided at 3pm on Sunday, October 3, resulting in serious injuries for the sedan driver.  The truck wreck happened on Highway 50 in Southeast Salida, Colorado. The injured man was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident. One of the big rig’s side fuel tanks tore open in the crash and spilled diesel all over the roadway.

Mansfield NewsJournal.com reports that a semitrailer failed to stop for traffic flagged to a stop on Ohio 13 north of Richland County, Ohio, and slammed into at least nine vehicles before coming to rest in a field where it burst into flames. Several people, including children, from several of the vehicles were injured, some very seriously. Ohio Highway Patrol officers reported that no citations were issued, but that the truck accident investigation is ongoing.

Vcstar.com reports that a tractor-trailer rig pulled in front of a van on the Pacific Coast Highway north of Ventura, California, causing the van to crash into the truck and injuring two teens in the van. The California Highway Patrol reports that the semi-truck was stopped on the shoulder and failed to yield when it pulled back onto the PCH. The driver of the van was trapped and was freed by firefighters. He was treated at a nearby hospital for arm and leg fractures and cuts and bruises to his head.

Jconline.com reports that a semi-trailer tipped over on U.S. 24 near West Lafayette, Indiana, crushing a minivan and injuring its driver. The truck crash was caused by excessive speed as the driver of the big rig took a curve at high speeds, causing his semi-trailer to overturn. Indiana State Police cited the big rig’s driver for driving too fast for conditions.

Omaha.com reports that a semitrailer truck crashed into a turning vehicle on Highway 15 north of Schuyler, Nebraska, killing a passenger in the vehicle and critically injuring the vehicle’s driver. The truck accident is under investigation by the Colfax County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol.

The Denver Post.com reports that the driver of a big rig caused an accident on I-70 in Mesa County, Colorado when he placed reflective emergency triangles on the roadway, causing a car to overturn in its attempt to avoid them, and resulting in the death of a passenger in that vehicle. The Colorado State Patrol states that the big rig’s driver placed the emergency triangles in a traffic lane of the interstate rather than on the shoulder where his broken-down semi was parked. The triangles were around a curve. The passenger vehicle rounded the curve, swerved to avoid the triangles, overturned, and crashed into a second vehicle. The passenger in the first vehicle was thrown from that vehicle and died after being airlifted to a nearby hospital. The driver of the vehicle was also injured, but there is no word on her condition. The Colorado State Patrol reports that the driver of the big rig will face negligent homicide charges following this truck accident.

DailyTribune.net reports that a semitrailer rear-ended a passenger vehicle at the 2600 Block of South Jefferson near Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, injuring one man in that vehicle. The passenger vehicle had slowed to a stop behind a flatbed trailer at the time of the accident.

CBS11tv.com reports that an 18-wheeler crashed into a dump truck on Highway 121 near Lewisville, Texas, after which the cab of the big rig crashed into a pickup truck and all three vehicles burst into flames. The driver of the big rig belonging to Leap of Faith Transportation jumped to safety from the burning truck before it fell over a bridge. One person was taken to a medical facility for treatment following the truck accident.

Newsday.com reports that witnesses saw a big rig run a red light at the intersection of Hicksville Road and Central Avenue in Bethpage, New York, and crash into a passenger vehicle and killing a mother and daughter in that vehicle. Police investigating the truck wreck are deciding whether or not to cite the driver. The victim’s were a 44-year-old mom and her 11-year-old daughter.

Rocnow.com reports that a dump truck struck the County Route 7 overpass on the New York State Thruway in Manchester, Ontario County, New York, causing the bed of the truck to detach and two vehicles to collide with the bed. Seventeen people were injured in the crash that was caused by the dump truck’s failure to have a tilt bed warning light that would have signaled the driver when the truck bed was raised. The driver was cited for not having proper equipment.

JSOnline.com reports that a container being hauled by a tractor-trailer became disconnected and fell onto a parked SUV, killing the occupant of that vehicle. The truck accident occurred on I-39 near Stoughton, Wisconsin, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol. A passenger in the SUV was also injured and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Wisconsin State Police are continuing their investigation of this accident.

Deseretnews.com reports that a semi-trailer truck rear-ended a school bus at the intersection of 2800 West and State Route 13 in Corinne, Box Elder County, Utah after the bus had stopped at a stop sign. Three children aboard the bus were injured in the truck crash and the driver of the big rig was cited for following too closely.

DenverPost.com reports that a semi-trailer truck passing a car in a no-passing zone on U.S. 287 near Lamar, Colorado struck an on-coming passenger vehicle head-on, killing a passenger in that vehicle and sending its driver and a second passenger to the hospital in serious condition. The driver of the big rig was arrested for investigation of one count of careless driving causing death, three counts of careless driving causing injury, careless driving, and passing on the left where prohibited.

Courier-journal.com reports that three people lost their lives on Indiana Route 37 near Orleans, Indiana when 44,000 pounds of steel coil that had been improperly tied down fell from a semitrailer and struck their vehicles. The victims were a 22-year-old driver and 21-year-old passenger of a pickup truck and a 41-year-old driver of a car. An 11-year-old girl, a passenger in the pickup, was hospitalized in fair condition. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department reports that the semitrailer driver was cited for improperly securing the load of coiled steel.

TheTribune of Greeley, Colorado reports that an Aurora, Colorado woman was seriously injured in an accident on I-76 near Lochbuie, Colorado when her car was rear-ended by a semitrailer truck. The woman was taken by helicopter to a Denver hospital. Police report that the driver of the semi truck was checking his GPS at the time of the crash and that he has been cited with “inattentive driving.”

Wausaudailyherald.com reports that the driver of a passenger car was injured on Highway 51 in Marathon County, Wisconsin when a semi-trailer struck his vehicle. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Marathon County Sheriff’s department officials report that the crash is under investigation.

WHNT News 19 of Huntsville, Alabama reports that a local teenager was injured at the intersection of Martling Road and Hustleville Road in Asbury, Alabama when her SUV was broadsided by an 18-wheeler. The victim, a cheerleader on her way to an event, was reportedly badly injured and was flown by paramedics to Huntsville Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Cincinnati.com reports that two school children and one adult were injured December 1st when the school van they were traveling in was involved in a 3-vehicle crash caused by an International 2000 semi-truck. The truck’s driver was cited for causing the crash at the intersection of 6th Street and Riley Boulevard in Franklin Township, Ohio.

Cadillacnews.com of Cadillac, Michigan reports that a 15-year-old boy was killed and his mom was critically injured when a semi-truck lost control and jack-knifed into the path of their vehicle. The accident happened east of Lake City, Michigan last Monday.

A December 1 report on KGET.com states that a 49-year-old woman was killed and two passengers were injured when the SUV they were traveling in was struck by a semi truck on Panama Road near Cottonwood Road in South Bakersfield, California. According to the California Highway Patrol, the semi’s driver lost control of his vehicle, veered into oncoming traffic and struck the victim’s vehicle.

NewsTrib.com is reporting that a semi-trailer driver was cited for making an illegal left turn at the Route 40 entrance ramp to Interstate 80 in Bureau County, Illinois after the driver of an American Red Cross van struck the semi-truck as it blocked both lanes of Route 40 during the illegal maneuver. The van’s driver was killed when his vehicle struck the semi-truck’s trailer and became wedged beneath it.

Action 3 News reports that a teenage girl and her 29-year-old companion were killed last weekend when the go-cart they were riding was struck by a semi-truck. The Iowa State Patrol says that the two were riding the go-cart in a residential area in Clarinda, Iowa when the Freightliner truck crested a hill going too fast to stop in time to avoid hitting the pair.

In a press release dated November 30, the Arizona Department of Public Safety reports that one of their officers is in critical, but stable condition after being struck by an out-of-control semi-tractor trailer on Interstate 17 south of Flagstaff. The officer was responding to a rollover accident and was standing on the shoulder of the roadway when the semi-tractor trailer lost control, crossed the center median and struck him.

In a report on Alamosanews.com, The Colorado State Patrol states that a 51-year-old Alamosa, Colorado woman lost her life when her vehicle was crushed by a semi-tractor trailer carrying a load of potatoes. Patrolmen report that the driver of the semi-truck ran a stop sign and entered Highway 285 north of Monte Vista, Colorado, and then struck the woman’s car. Investigators report that the semi-truck may also have had mechanical defects which contributed to the accident.

According to WAVY.com, a 72-year-old woman lost her life and her husband was injured when the van they were traveling in was struck by a tanker truck carrying carbon dioxide. The truck crossed the median and struck the van on Interstate 64 near Chesapeake, Virginia.
